Biography

Dr Yewande Almi is the one health unit lead at Africa Centre for Disease Control and Prevention and co-leads the Africa Union Task Force on AMR. Dr Alimi has been pivotal in developing and executing comprehensive strategies and interventions on the African continent.  She co-chaired the IPC Section for COVID-19 response across the continent and led the technical IPC support to the Africa Task Force for Coronavirus. During the COVID-19, she led the development of 15 guidelines, training of over 5 000 health and care workers across the continent and ensure equitable distribution of personal protective equpiment.  Under her visionary leadership, Africa Centre for Disease Control and Prevention has established crucial programs addressing AMR, IPC and WASH, zoonotic diseases, food safety, and climate change, effectively addressing critical one health issues across the African continent.
