Hung Lam Steve Yim
Biography
Dr. Steve H.L. Yim is the tenured associate professor and assistant chair (faculty) of Asian School of the Environment, and the tenured associate professor of Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Dr. Yim is the international leading scientist of air pollution and health, especially transboundary air pollution. His work has published over 100 journal papers in international high-ranking journals. His research innovation is globally recognized. He is listed as the world’s top 2% scientist (by single year impact) published by Stanford University for three consecutive years. His research team developed the first-of-its-kind of 3-Dimensional Real-Time Atmospheric Monitoring System (3DREAMS) in East Asia (Hong Kong) and in Southeast Asia (Singapore) for monitoring transboundary air pollution in the two regions. Dr. Yim is the Principal Investigator of Earth Observatory of Singapore, serving as the co-lead principal investigator of one of the largest funded projects (Tier3c) in Singapore for assessing climate change impacts in Southeast Asia, and also the lead of the climate and health research in the project. Dr. Yim worked closely with Hong Kong and Singapore governments, providing professional advice to support the government air quality management. Prof. Yim is frequently interviewed by mass media to offer his view on air quality and climate events.
