Dr Yves Longtin
Biography
Dr Yves Longtin, MD is a Canadian medical doctor certified in Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology. He is an Associate Professor of Medicine at McGill University and works as an infectious diseases consultant, medical microbiologist, and infection prevention and control officer at the Centre Intégré Universitaire Centre Ouest de Montreal, which is a network of 13 healthcare institutions totalling >3200 beds including acute care, long-term care and rehabilitation beds.
He is the Chair of the Canadian Nosocomial Infection Surveillance Program on Carbapenem Resistant Gram-Negative Bacteria. This surveillance network includes 106 acute care hospitals in 10 provinces and 1 territory in Canada. He is also the chair of the Quebec Clostridium difficile infection surveillance program.
Dr Longtin is the President of the Association of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Disease Canada (AMMI Canada), which is the national specialty association that represents physicians, clinical microbiologists and researchers specializing in the fields of medical microbiology and infectious diseases.
He also co-founded the Antimicrobial Access Interest Group of AMMI Canada that aims to raise awareness, drive policy change and influence legislation for increased access to antimicrobials, notably those identified as Access antibiotics and Reserve antibiotics by the WHO AWaRe.
