Prof Ziad Memish
Biography
Professor, College of Medicine, Alfaisal University, Saudi Arabia
Professor Ziad Memish is a senior consultant in infectious diseases and adviser supervisor general for medical and humanitarian research at the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre in Riyadh. He is also a professor at the College of Medicine, Alfaisal University and an adjunct professor at the Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University, United States of America. Professor Memish earned his medical degree from the University of Ottawa, Canada and is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Infectious Diseases; he is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London, the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the American College of Physicians. Renowned as a pioneer in mass gathering medicine and IPC; he established the WHO Collaborating Centre for Mass Gathering Medicine at the Ministry of Health in Riyadh and the WHO Collaborating Centre for IPC and AMR at the Saudi Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs. On a national level, he served as the first deputy minister for public health at the Ministry of Health for six years and currently chairs the national technical advisory group for COVID-19.
