The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare of Bangladesh organized a workshop on Workload Indicators of Staffing Need (WISN) methodology from 25 – 27 November in Dhaka. The program was supported by the WHO Country office for Bangladesh.
The WISN application is a software tool to calculate the number of health workers needed to cope with the volume of work at health facility. The use of the WISN tool will help policy makers, planners, health facility managers and researchers to improve planning and allocation of health workers in Bangladesh. The WISN software was developed in 2010 by WHO.
This workshop will build the capacity of participants from the MOHFW on the WISN methodology and will build the capacity of the research team who will undertake the WISN study in Bangladesh. The WISN tool will play a critical role in supporting the MOHFW to improve Human Resources for Health Planning in Bangladesh and will help the MOHFW to implement the recently approved National Health Workforce Strategy.
