On 21 May 2019, in Phnom Penh, the Ministry of Health conducted Stakeholders Orientation workshop on “Early Detection and Management for Diabetes in Primary Care” project, funded by the World Diabetes Foundation and supported by the World Health Organization.
The project aims to develop a sustainable and equitable health systems model for management of diabetes mellitus and hypertension in Cambodia through establishment of an effective primary care model. This model will guide diabetes prevention, care and management; integration of sustainable model for providing community-based patient support, education, and information into preventive health services; and enhance health information systems at national, provincial and district level to support care for diabetes patients.
Collaborating partners, as GIZ, Louvain Cooperation, MoPoTsyo Patient Information Center, Sihanouk Hospital for Center of Hope, as well as representatives from the Provincial Health Departments of Battambang and Kampot, and relevant Operational Districts participated in the workshop.
The next step is the establishment of the Steering Committee of the project under the leadership of the Ministry of Health.
