Multisectoral Strategies to Contain AMR – One Health, Multiple Voices

30 October |21:00 – 22:15 CET| PAHO and ReAct Latin America

The objective of this One Health Day event is to promote a multisectoral and inclusive dialogue on AMR, engaging representatives from ministries of health, agriculture and food production, environment, and education, as well as civil society, academia, human and animal health professionals, and food producers. The discussion will explore how interconnections between water, food, and antibiotics shape AMR, and how collective actions across sectors can strengthen prevention and containment efforts. The webinar is part of PAHO’s Empowered Communities to Tackle AMR initiative 2025 WAAW series. Launched in 2021 with ReAct Latin America, the initiative promotes community engagement, creative and participatory approaches, and culturally relevant communication to make AMR a people-centered issue. The initiative has convened educators, professionals, youth, civil society, and artists across Latin America and the Caribbean to co-design interventions that inspire collective responsibility for antibiotic preservation and infection prevention.

Results from the 2025 Tracking AMR Country Self-Assessment Survey (TrACSS)

The Quadripartite organizations (FAO, UNEP, WHO, and WOAH) invite you to join a webinar launching the results of the 9th round of the Tracking AMR Country Self-Assessment Survey (TrACSS). TrACSS serves as a key global mechanism for monitoring progress in the implementation of national action plans on AMR across human, animal, plant, food, and environmental sectors. The 2025 data collection has concluded with 184 country responses, meeting the UN General Assembly target of 95% annual participation- a testament to the growing commitment to tackling AMR through a One Health approach. During this webinar, experts from the Quadripartite will present key findings, highlight trends, and discuss implications for strengthening AMR governance and action at national and global levels. The session will include presentations from each sector, followed by an interactive discussion and Q&A.

Strengthening Monitoring and Evaluation Capacity for Effective Implementation of AMR National Action Plans in Africa

This session will convene key experts and partners to share insights, experiences, and practical approaches for building robust monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems to support AMR National Action Plan implementation across the continent. Framed around the draft revised AMR Global Action Plan and informed by the latest TrACSS findings, the webinar will feature presentations on regional priorities, country-level analysis, and expectations for M&E integration. Speakers will include representatives from WHO HQ and WHO AFRO, with a keynote address offering a global perspective on strengthening AMR governance through effective M&E.

It’s Not Just Bugs – It’s Us! The Intersection of Behavioural Science and AMR

The ESCMID AMR Action Subcommittee in collaboration with the ESCMID Study Group for Antimicrobial Stewardship (ESGAP), the Trainee Association of ESCMID (TAE) and the WHO is organising a webinar focused on behavioural science and how nudges, framing and habit loops can improve prescribing practices and public awareness. The webinar will dive into this non-conventional facet of AMR research and will cover examples from primary care settings, strategic behavioural analyses and published trials. These real-world examples will explore the impact of behavioural science on optimising antibiotic prescribing in primary care and how it can contribute to published AMR trials.

5th Annual Global Media Forum in Lead-Up to World AMR Awareness Week 2025

Organized by the Global AMR Media Alliance (GAMA) in the lead-up to WAAW 2025, this event will spotlight the urgent challenge of AMR and the vital role of responsible communication in raising public awareness. Media professionals worldwide are invited to join and explore progress on AMR, strengthen reporting through a One Health lens, and share compelling stories that inspire action. The program will highlight how initiatives such as the AMR Multi-Partner Trust Fund are supporting countries to implement National Action Plans, with resource partners and country representatives showcasing their impact. By equipping media professionals with accurate information and fostering stronger partnerships, the event aims to amplify media engagement, increase visibility of global commitments, and drive sustained investment to address AMR.

TrACSSing the Path to Action: Reflections on AMR Progress and Gaps in the Western Pacific Region

As part of WAAW 2025, this regional webinar will bring together Member States, partners, and technical experts from across the Western Pacific to reflect on progress and gaps in implementing AMR responses within the human health sector. The session will present the key findings from the 2025 Tracking AMR Country Self-Assessment Survey (TrACSS) for the Region, share country experiences on how data informs policy and practice, and discuss priority actions to accelerate implementation of national AMR measures. The Vaccine Dividend – How Immunisation Can Be Used to Halt the Rising Burden of AMR

The ESCMID AMR Action Subcommittee in collaboration with the ESCMID Vaccines Study Group (EVASG), the Trainee Association of ESCMID (TAE) and the WHO is organising a webinar focused on how vaccines can reduce antibiotic use and save lives. Attendees will gain insights into the role of vaccination in combating resistance with an emphasis on vaccines currently in development with the highest potential impact on AMR. Plenary Session of the WHO Civil Society Task Force on AMR

The newly launched WHO Civil Society Task Force on AMR, with 81 member organizations, is having its first plenary session during WAAW 2025. The plenary session will discuss the priorities of the task force and strategies to advance coordinated action against AMR in the human health sector. Building on outcomes from the inaugural steering committee meeting, the plenary will discuss civil society’s role as a catalyst for resilient health systems and explore regional priorities for AMR engagement. The plenary aims to consolidate the Task Force’s strategic direction for 2026, enhance linkages between global and regional platforms, and ensure civil society voices remain central to the global AMR response. Participation is by invitation-only. 



 

From Resistance to Resilience: Healthcare workers leading the change

Infection Prevention to Control AMR: How to Pave the Way Forward?

From Resistance to Resilience: Drug-Resistant Gonorrhoea in 2025

The WHO Department for HIV, Tuberculosis, Hepatitis, and sexually transmitted infections (STIs), in collaboration with the AMR Department, is pleased to invite you to a webinar to launch the 2024 Data Report on the Enhanced Gonococcal Antimicrobial Surveillance Programme (EGASP). EGASP continues to strengthen national capacity for STI surveillance, epidemiology and gonococcal AMR monitoring and to build technical skills across clinical, epidemiological and laboratory domains. EGASP data are increasingly being used to inform updates to national STI treatment guidelines and to support reviews of national and global recommendations for gonorrhoea testing and treatment. Taking place during WAAW 2025, the launch serves as a call to action to preserve gonococcal surveillance achievements and to build resilience against future antimicrobial threats in STIs.

Dialogue with Students: A Survivor’s Journey in the Fight Against AMR

As part of WAAW 2025, Teesside University will host a special event featuring Vanessa Carter, Chair of the WHO Task Force of AMR Survivors. Vanessa will share her personal journey as an AMR survivor and global advocate, highlighting the human impact of AMR and the importance of patient voices in shaping policy and awareness. The event will include a series of short talks to pharmacy students, university staff, and the wider community, alongside an “Antibiotic Amnesty” initiative to promote responsible disposal of unused antimicrobial medicines. This session aims to inspire future health professionals and strengthen local engagement in the global AMR response.
