Disease Outbreak Reported
The Department of Health reported on 19 January that there were no new cases of influenza A (H5N1). The total number of cases remains 18 confirmed and one suspected cases. Ten of the 18 confirmed cases have been discharged from hospital, and six were fatal. The health status of the remaining two cases hospitalized was unchanged critical for one and satisfactory for the other. Preliminary tests results were negative for a 26-year-old female admitted to hospital on 18 January with influenza-like illness.
