Disease Outbreak Reported
As of 8 October, the Ministry of Health in Saudi Arabia has reported 291 suspected cases of Rift Valley fever, including 64 deaths (see previous report).
WHO, in conjunction with its international partners from the WHO Collaborating Centres at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the United States of America and the National Institute of Virology in South Africa, has been providing the Saudi government with advice and assistance with field investigation and implementation of control measures to contain the spread of the disease.
