Disease Outbreak Reported

As of 17 October, the Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia has reported 405 suspected cases of Rift Valley fever, including 76 deaths. Field investigation and implementation of control measures to contain the spread of disease continue with intensive application of insecticides to eradicate mosquitoes and larvae.

A joint technical team has been formed by the Ministries of Health and Agriculture of the governments of Saudi Arabia and Yemen to fight the epidemic.  For further details, please see the Saudi Arabia Information Resource web site.
