Disease Outbreak Reported

As of 2 November, the Ugandan Ministry of Health has reported cumulative figures of 262 cases including 81 deaths.

The first virologically confirmed case outside Gulu district has been reported in Mbarara district in southwestern Uganda. The sample was tested by the laboratory established in Gulu by the WHO Collaborating Centre at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), United States.  The Ugandan Ministry of Health has requested specialists in the management of Ebola in Gulu to carry out an investigation. A WHO-led team from Gulu including CDC and Médecins sans Frontières in Kampala are travelling to Mbarara district to investigate the report.
