Preparedness 2.0: Mobile Labs Simulation Exercise

23 September 2024,10:00–11:30 (CEST)

Rapid-response mobile laboratories (RRMLs), also known as public health RRMLs, play a role in fighting public health emergencies by enabling on-site testing and analysis during disease outbreaks.

The objectives of the side event are to:

  • set out the significance of RRMLs in the context of broader emergency preparedness and response and the Preparedness 2.0 strategy;
  • share examples of best practices, the simulation exercises that have been conducted in the European Region, the results obtained and the gaps in coverage identified;

  • highlight the goal of a commitment to improve the preparedness of RRMLs to address public health emergencies; and

  • discuss opportunities for strengthening RRML capacities in Member States, and outline the WHO support that is available.
