EPW2 builds on the first European Programme of Work, 2020–2025 – “United Action for Better Health”, and contributes to global health initiatives, including WHO’s Fourteenth General Programme of Work and the Sustainable Development Goals.

'One Health' is an approach to designing and implementing programmes, policies, legislation and research in which multiple sectors communicate and work together to achieve better public health outcomes.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aim to transform our world. They are a call to action to end poverty and inequality, protect the planet, and ensure that all people enjoy health, justice and prosperity.

These core priorities are anchored in the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agenda and are linked to three bold targets for the health sector’s contribution to the SDGs: the triple billion targets.
