European Immunization Week 2026

19–25 April 2026

The WHO European Region celebrates European Immunization Week (EIW) every year to promote awareness of the role immunization plays in preventing diseases and protecting life. This year marks the 20th annual EIW with the theme “For every generation, vaccines work”.

The campaign aims to:

  • highlight how vaccines have safely protected people, families and communities for generations – and continue to safeguard our future;
  • quip health workers with the skills and tools to communicate clearly and compassionately about vaccines, helping families who are hesitant or have questions to feel informed, heard and confident in their immunization decisions;
  • strengthen public understanding of the science behind vaccine safety and effectiveness, enabling individuals, families and communities to make informed immunization decisions; and
  • reinforce trust by highlighting transparency, accountability and ongoing innovation in immunization, and emphasize the shared responsibility to protect future generations through continued investment, research and equitable access to vaccines.
