The new Regions for Health Network catalogue of regions 2024
The Regions for Health Network (RHN) comprises member regions and associated member regions of countries in the WHO European Region. Since its creation in November 1992, the Network has influenced subnational activities in support of regional and local health policy development, building on the WHO European Programme of Work, 2020–2025 – “United Action for Better Health” (EPW).
The catalogue of regions 2024 is a collection of 24 regional profiles, each presenting a rich variety of regional visions and actions towards health and equity. Updated from the first publication of the catalogue in 2019, the 2024 edition offers a richer, more comprehensive perspective, providing deeper insight into how regions are contributing to the EPW in their unique contexts. As such, it serves as an even more valuable resource than its predecessor, reflecting the evolving landscape of regional health efforts.
Each profile includes:
- a general overview of the region
- a description of the region’s activities linked to the EPW
- action linked to the EPW flagship initiatives
- prospective areas of collaboration that are important to the region
- contact information.
“Regions for health are harbours of innovation. They are the interface between local and national action. They interact with their citizens and enable action while ensuring policy coherence across levels,” said Dr Bettina Menne, Senior Policy Adviser – Healthy Settings, and RHN Coordinator, WHO/Europe.
The catalogue of regions 2024 has been developed within the framework of the RHN, with the involvement of the WHO European Office for Investment for Health and Development (Venice, Italy).
