EHP Secretariat
WHO/Europe provides secretariat functions to the EHP, which include:
- supporting the implementation of commitments made within the EHP in cooperation with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the United Nations Environment Programme by coordinating the European Environment and Health Task Force (EHTF) and its related bodies;
- informing EHP members and stakeholders of WHO/Europe’s events, initiatives, activities and products involving environment and health through a quarterly EHP newsletter and other channels;
- organizing initiatives such as the Bonn Dialogues on Environment and Health to facilitate exchange of information on environment and health among EHP members and stakeholders;
- supporting the EHP Partnerships;
- supporting the development and implementation of National Portfolios of Actions on Environment and Health, a mechanism to ensure that Member States have coordinated, comprehensive and coherent strategies and policies to address the persistent burden of diseases attributable to environmental determinants; and
- reporting annually on EHP activities to the WHO Regional Committee for Europe and the UNECE Committee on Environmental Policy.
