Sub-regional training workshop on quality assurance and data management in vaccine safety monitoring

A WHO training workshop on quality assurance and data management in vaccine safety monitoring will be held in cooperation with the Paul-Ehrlich Institute in Frankfurt, Germany, on 27–30 June 2023. 

The aim of the workshop is to strengthen regional and in-country capacity on vaccine safety in middle-income countries (MICs) by sharing WHO guidance and best practices and tools to review the performance of vaccine safety monitoring systems. The workshop will also explore the effective use of data on adverse events following immunization (AEFI) to identify, assess and manage vaccine safety signals.

Participants will learn about quality assurance in vaccine safety monitoring, international data standards and available AEFI repositories. They will also learn how to access, analyse and interpret data to support signal detection and evidence-based vaccine safety response.

The workshop will facilitate the sharing of experience and the establishment of better in-country and intercountry links between AEFI surveillance professionals. 

Invited countries are Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Republic of Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, Tajikistan, North Macedonia, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
