WHO regional meeting on human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines

WHO/Europe, together with the WHO Collaborating Centre for Vaccine Safety at the Hospital Clínico Universitario de Santiago de Compostela, Spain, is organizing a regional training on human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines, to be held on 24–26 September 2023 in Istanbul, Türkiye.

The objectives of the training are to:

  • present and discuss updated information on the safety and impact of HPV vaccines;
  • discuss effective methods to communicate with caregivers about HPV vaccination; and
  • introduce WHO training materials on HPV vaccination to conduct trainings for health-care workers, including updated training modules and case studies on HPV vaccines and a training module on communicating with caregivers about HPV vaccination.

The outcomes of the meeting are intended to improve the knowledge of trainees on HPV vaccine safety and impact, increase confidence in HPV vaccines and build capacity in communicating HPV vaccination to the caregivers of adolescent girls, and equip health trainers with training materials and a methodology to conduct trainings for front-line medical workers.

The regional training is organized for national immunization programme managers and leading clinicians from Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kosovo*, Kyrgyzstan, the Republic of Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
