On 9–10 October 2023, WHO/Europe is organizing the annual technical meeting of the Member States focal point network for the WHO–EU Evidence into Action Alcohol Project (EVID-ACTION) in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
The EVID-ACTION project, officially launched in December 2022, is a collaboration between the European Union and the WHO Regional Office for Europe to reduce harms due to alcohol consumption across 30 countries, as part of Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan.
The meeting in Ljubljana will bring together EVID-ACTION country representatives to:
- discuss implementation of the policy measures included in the European framework for action on alcohol, 2022–2025, including priorities for action and challenges;
- provide an update on progress on alcohol, including EVID-ACTION initiatives and actions;
- share country experiences of:
- successful multisectoral cooperation on alcohol
- effective communications to raise awareness of links between alcohol consumption and cancer risk; and
- gather inputs from Member States on upcoming EVID-ACTION initiatives and reports.
