Tajikistan is making great progress in its efforts to improve health care for all citizens. On 5 February 2025, the Fourth Joint Annual Review of the Implementation of the Strategy on Healthcare of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan for the Period to 2030 will be held in Dushanbe. This event, organized by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, and supported by WHO and the European Union, will bring together high-level government officials and development partners to review the country’s health sector progress and set priorities for 2025.
Universal health coverage and ongoing health financing reforms
Tajikistan’s commitment to universal health coverage will be a central theme of the event. The progress of health financing reforms, especially the introduction of performance-based payments aimed at enhancing primary health care services, will take centre stage. This will be a key topic of discussion, as these reforms are vital for improving fund management and ensuring health-care accessibility for all. While this will be a primary focus, other important topics will also be covered during the event.
WHO leadership
WHO will take a leading role at the event, presenting on behalf of all development partners in the health sector. The Organization will highlight joint achievements, share lessons learned and underscore the importance of a collaborative approach to creating sustainable, positive impact on health and well-being in Tajikistan.
