WHO is bringing together leaders from 4 nations to share lessons learned on working across health and economy sectors to break the link between poor health and economic inactivity by investing in prevention. The event is creating a dedicated space for representatives to debate how to steer progress for healthier, safer and economically resilient societies in light of current challenges and in a globally disrupted world.
The event will include knowledge sharing on what has worked to increase commitment to prevention and well-being policies, laws and budgets, such as dialoguing with communities and shaping local economic development to create healthy places where people want to live and are able to work.
The event will take place in Cardiff, hosted by the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care from the Welsh Government and supported by Public Health Wales. Finland, Iceland, Scotland and Wales (United Kingdom) are the European members of the Wellbeing Economy Governments partnership.
Led by the WHO European Office for Investment for Health and Development (the Venice Office), the WHO European Well-being Economy Initiative supports Member States to implement approaches that deliver good health across the life course and for left-behind places while quantifying the benefits to economies across the WHO European Region.
