The Technical Advisory Group (TAG) on Risk Communication, Community Engagement and Infodemic Management (RCCE-IM) in the WHO European Region – the first and only such WHO TAG globally – starts its second mandate with a 2-day virtual plenary meeting on 24–25 June 2025. For this mandate, the RCCE-IM TAG brings together expert practitioners and academic researchers from 17 European and Central Asian countries. It continues helping WHO/Europe to ensure its RCCE-IM strategies and actions are informed by sound evidence and current good practice.

The first iteration of the RCCE-IM TAG was inaugurated by Dr Hans Henri P. Kluge, WHO Regional Director for Europe, on 26 April 2023 with a 2-year mandate. Following an open call for experts launched in November 2024, a second iteration of the TAG was appointed by the Regional Director on 2 June 2025. This also has a 2-year mandate and includes 9 members reappointed from the previous TAG.

Key items of business at the 24–25 June TAG plenary will be onboarding members, especially those who are new to the TAG, and agreeing on priorities for its work with WHO over the coming 2 years. Also on the agenda is a presentation from the recently launched WHO Collaborating Centre for RCCE-IM at Kristiania University of Applied Sciences in Oslo, Norway, exploring possible areas of collaborative work with the TAG.
