The second of 3 virtual hearings of the Pan-European Commission on Climate and Health will focus on the opportunities and health co-benefits of creating a better future for both present and future generations.
Transforming risk to resilience: opportunities and co-benefits of climate action for health and well-being
Experts will discuss what can be done to bring about positive health outcomes for people, communities and the planet both in terms of climate adaptation and mitigation practices that move toward net zero. Local examples from the WHO European Region will highlight successful efforts in enhancing resilience, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving public health. The hearing will also explore what kind of systemic and transformative action is needed to ensure the health security of people and communities and foster climate resiliency.
Pan-European Commission on Climate and Health
The Pan-European Commission on Climate and Health is an independent advisory group convened by WHO/Europe in June 2025 to raise the political profile, awareness and support for stronger action to address the health impacts of climate change. Through a series of 3 hearings with leading experts in the areas of climate change and health, the Commission will review evidence and experiences to develop final recommendations for accelerated health and climate action, which will be presented during the World Health Assembly in May 2026.
