Training on the use of data for immunization programme improvement

28 – 31 October 2025
Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan

Event highlights

Immunization programme managers and epidemiologists from national and subnational levels across Kyrgyzstan participated in the training workshop organized by WHO/Europe to strengthen the country’s capacity to use data for action, ensuring high immunization coverage and preventing outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases.

The workshop utilized a highly practical, hands-on approach, structured in 2 back-to-back training sessions for national and subnational level staff. Sessions included the analysis of multiple data sources to perform data quality checks, calculate key standard indicators and visualize data, and use of dedicated WHO tools like the Measles Programmatic Risk Assessment Tool. The training emphasized the interpretation of the analysis and the importance of linking analysis directly to targeted programmatic actions. The training was met with outstanding feedback, with all 35 attendees confirming they gained new, applicable skills and improved essential technical abilities, including use of advanced software functions.

Strengthening data use for action

This training is part of WHO/Europe’s ongoing support to Member States under the European Immunization Agenda 2030, which emphasizes the importance of data-enabled decision-making, development of tailored local strategies and accountability in immunization systems. By building the capacity of national and subnational health authorities and the immunization workforce, WHO/Europe aims to support countries in identifying and addressing inequities, developing evidence-based action plans, and monitoring progress to ensure equitable access to immunization services for all.

Event notice

This training, designed for Kyrgyzstan’s national and subnational immunization programme managers, vaccine-preventable disease surveillance officers and Ministry of Health representatives, aims to strengthen participants’ ability to analyse surveillance and immunization data and apply data triangulation techniques to address 3 critical areas: equity in immunization, accelerating control of vaccine-preventable diseases (with a specific focus on measles) and improving data quality.

The training will also generate specific data analyses to support evidence-based immunization programme planning, evaluation and decision-making for programme improvement at national and subnational levels.

The subnational-level training will take place on 28–29 October, followed by the national-level training on 30–31 October. The national-level training includes an additional day to cover the use of the WHO measles programmatic risk assessment tool.
