European Immunization Week – Vaccines bring us closer!

22 April 2021
Each year in April, the WHO European Region celebrates European Immunization Week (EIW) to raise awareness of the importance of immunization in preventing diseases and protecting life.

This year, under the theme “Vaccines bring us closer”, we are celebrating the contribution of routine vaccination to health and well-being throughout life, as well as focusing on COVID-19 vaccines as a vital tool to help us end the pandemic.

Vaccines bring us closer to a fairer world and universal health coverage, they bring us closer to the eradication of poliomyelitis and a world without pandemics, and, critically in these times of physical and social distancing, they bring us closer to family and friends.
