WHO/Europe met with key partners and stakeholders in the WHO European Region to discuss the objectives of a project proposal for improving quality of care and prevention of drug-resistant tuberculosis (TB) in eastern Europe and central Asia. The consultation was the first step towards the development of a proposal following a call from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

Participants focused the discussion on 3 main axes:

  • the role of partners interested in participating in the project, including civil society organizations;
  • the added value of proposing a multicountry project; and
  • the formal structure and organization of the project implementers and main recipients of funds.

The meeting took place in Copenhagen, Denmark, on 20 February 2018. Participants joined both in person and remotely, as the consultation was live-streamed and online interaction was possible.

This initial meeting will be followed by a series of conference calls to reach a maximum degree of inclusiveness and transparency in order to meet the eligibility criteria for application.
