Regional operational research on the introduction of fully oral modified shorter treatment regimens for multidrug/rifampicin-resistant tuberculosis: mid-project evaluation

Overview

The WHO Regional Office for Europe initiated a mid-project evaluation of the regional operational research (‎OR)‎ on the implementation of fully oral modified shorter treatment regimens (‎mSTR)‎ for multidrug-resistant/rifampicin-resistant tuberculosis (‎MDR/RR-TB)‎. The evaluation aimed to analyse the findings of the OR implementation process and assess the impact of the initiative on programmatic practices in participating countries.The main objectives of the evaluation were to describe the OR barriers and enablers at regional, country and district levels, assess the impact of the initiative on programmatic practices in participating countries, and provide recommendations for further implementation of the OR on the introduction of mSTR and other research and programmatic initiatives related to MDR/RR-TB treatment.
