Action against antimicrobial resistance and fungal infections

Overview

Fungal infections are common among the general population and may be life-threatening, particularly for severely ill, immunocompromised and hospitalized patients. The proliferation of fungal strains can be triggered by antibiotic treatment necessitating the use of antifungal medicines. Without adequate treatment, fungal infections can become invasive, carrying a considerable economic cost and burden to health-care systems and patients.
