Planning the implementation of global and regional chemical safety policies: Bonn, Germany, 4–6 June 2024: meeting report

Overview

New policies for the management of chemicals were adopted recently to ensure a higher level of protection of human health and the environment from the negative impacts of chemicals. Streamlining implementation of the policies, also in the context of broader sustainable development strategies, is needed for achieving goals, along with effective use of human, technical and financial resources. To identify priority chemicals and actions at the regional level, the WHO European Centre for Environment and Health organized a meeting on 4–6 June 2024 in Bonn, Germany. Training in planning strategies for health protection through the life-cycle of chemicals (‎example of mercury and the Minamata Convention on Mercury)‎ followed the prioritization exercises. This report summarizes the results of discussions at the meeting and information on the training.
