Supporting countries for impact

Each country is different, and WHO’s collaboration is tailored to meet their diverse needs. As a Member State-driven organization, WHO is committed to serving all countries, territories and areas.

The CPA Division:

  • leads WHO/Europe in an agile approach to gathering, analysing and sharing information to inform WHO’s strategic engagement with countries;
  • provides support and guidance in the development and tailoring of cohesive WHO strategic engagement plans in countries with and without country offices;
  • facilitates effective collaboration across WHO, with individual countries and between countries;
  • provides strategic advice on subregional partnerships between Member States to foster collaboration, investment and opportunities for better health for all, including by advancing subregional coordination mechanisms such as the Roadmap for Health and Well-being in Central Asia and the Roadmap for Health and Well-being in the Western Balkans; and
  • coordinates country support teams, which are groups of experts brought together for a short-term project to respond to a specific public health issue at the request of Member States.
