Objective of the programme
The purpose of the activity is to support the Government of Bangladesh in adopting evidence-based policies and interventions driven by international best practices and to implement, monitor and evaluate programmes to achieve the objective. A roster is being developed to identify suitable candidates who can be recruited as per need. The selected candidates will be included in the roster and will be invited to take up any assignments that are aligned with the TORs specified below.
Description of duties:
Under the guidance of the National professional Officer, Noncommunicable disease(NCD), and overall supervision of Medical Officer, NCD, the incumbent will
A) Provide technical assistance to the Government counterpart and other relevant stakeholders to
- Generate evidence in the areas of noncommunicable diseases and mental health.
- Adopt and implement the WHO Comprehensive Mental Health Action Plan and evidence-based policies to promote mental health.
- Expand mhGAP implementation to ensure care for mental disorders through primary care approach, strengthen Mental Health and Psychosocial support in emergency and non-emergency situations.
- Adopt evidence-based policies, implement multisectoral action plans and policies to prevent and control noncommunicable diseases, promote healthy settings, address social determinants of health.
- Scale up WHO PEN interventions in districts.
- Adopt and implement policies and action plans to prevent and manage injuries, including drowning, promote road safety initiatives, improve post-crash response.
- Strengthen services for disabilities and gender-based violence.
- Adopt and implement the Prevention and Response to Sexual Exploitation Abuse and Harassment (PRSEAH) policy and procedures.
- Strengthen monitoring, supervision and data management relating to NCDs and mental health.
B) Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned, including backstopping
