Objective of the programme 

The WHO Country Office collaborates with the Government of Bangladesh and relevant stakeholders within the framework of the collaborative Country Cooperation Strategy (CCS) to provide technical assistance to the Government in the formulation of national health policies, strategies and plan of actions and developing systems, frameworks and tools for monitoring and evaluation of interventions for improving access, quality, and affordability of integrated and people-centered health services.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Under the direct supervision of the Health Systems Team Leader, the incumbent will be working with the national authorities and other relevant stakeholders to:

  • Provide technical support in reviewing, revising, and implementing the health financing strategy and its implementation platforms
  • Provide technical support in developing short-term and long-term plans for the health care financing strategy implementation
  • Provide technical support to the government in strengthening health financing functions, e.g revenue generation, pooling and purchasing-
  • Support the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) in establishing and nurturing an effective inter-sector and intra-sector coordination mechanism for ensuring sustainable financing for health
  • Assist the MoHFW in its institutional capacity development efforts in health financing and priority setting
  • Generate evidence on public budget planning and utilization and provide informed policy advocacy
  • Support efforts to analytic works on equity, efficiency, priority setting and costing and disseminate the findings for informed decision making
  • Provide technical support in tracking health expenditure and generating evidence on financial risk protection
  • Provide technical support to sensitize the key stakeholders on health financing and universal health coverage
  • Contribute to UHC and overall health systems development efforts in Bangladesh
  • Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
