In November 2022, the Indonesian government reported a polio outbreak in Aceh province, linked to circulating vaccine-derived poliovirus type two (cVDPV2). In response, the Ministry of Health (MOH) and international partners bolstered surveillance and routine immunization, and successfully administered 12 416 088 type two novel oral polio vaccine (nOPV2) through two rounds of supplementary immunization activities (SIAs) across Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Java. Based on the assessment, partners are focusing efforts towards strengthening surveillance systems and routine immunization capacity.
