To address alarming rates of preventable harm caused by medication errors globally, WHO has released two new publications. The first publication, "Global burden of preventable medication-related harm in health care: a systematic review," highlights the extent and impact of medication-related harm, emphasizing the urgent need for interventions to enhance patient safety. The second publication, "Medication without harm: policy brief," outlines actionable strategies to prioritize medication safety in health care settings and is aligned with WHO's Global Patient Safety Challenge: Medication Without Harm and the Global Patient Safety Action Plan 2021–2030.

By offering guidance for implementation in health care facilities at multiple levels, these resources empower stakeholders to reduce medication errors and promote safer clinical practices to save lives and improve health care outcomes worldwide.
