Access to critical information and better understanding about the new strain of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is pivotal during the current evolving outbreak. Training can help limit the spread of misinformation and rumour among the public, as well as support the medical professionals who manage patients at the front line.
The global WHO Health Emergencies Programme has been investing in learning and training opportunities to strengthen preparedness and real-time emergency response to the international outbreak, and has recently launched several informative training modules about COVID-19 on its platform in both English and Bahasa Indonesia.
The course “Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) for novel coronavirus (COVID-19)” is a three-part series providing preparedness information on how health facilities can respond to a case of COVID-19 including the correct IPC measures to ensure there is no further virus transmission to healthcare workers, other patients and visitors in the facility. The modules consist of a mixture of videos and downloadable presentations.
A second training, titled “Health and safety briefing for respiratory diseases – ePROTECT” provides a general introduction to acute respiratory infections and basic hygiene measures to protect against infection.
The dual language courses are both tailored specifically to support healthcare workers and public health professionals to scale up activities for COVID-19.
Since their release earlier this week, the Bahasa Indonesia versions of the two health courses have already amassed more than 3 000 enrollments collectively.
The free learning resources are available to anyone interested in COVID-19 on both WHO Indonesia’s website and OpenWHO.org, WHO’s open learning platform for emergencies.
The OpenWHO platform was established 3 years ago to support emergency health scenarios where WHO needs to reach millions of people across the globe with real-time, accessible learning materials.

Melawan wabah penyakit coronavirus di Indonesia dengan pelatihan daring
Dalam situasi wabah yang terus berkembang saat ini, akses informasi dan pemahaman yang lebih baik tentang penyakit coronavirus turunan baru (COVID-19) sangatlah penting. Pelatihan dapat membantu membatasi penyebaran misinformasi dan rumor di tengah masyarakat, serta mendukung tenaga medis yang merawat pasien di garis depan.
Program Kedaruratan Kesehatan WHO global terus mengembangkan peluang pembelajaran dan pelatihan untuk memperkuat kesiapan dan respons kedaruratan yang sigap terhadap wabah berskala internasional ini. Selain itu, baru-baru ini program tersebut juga menerbitkan beberapa modul pelatihan tentang COVID-19 berbahasa Inggris dan Indonesia.
Yang pertama, kursus “Pencegahan dan Pengendalian Infeksi (PPI) untuk Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)” berisi tiga bagian yang memberikan informasi kesiapan tentang bagaimana cara fasilitas-fasilitas pelayanan kesehatan dapat merespons kasus COVID-19, seperti penggunaan langkah-langkah PPI yang tepat untuk memastikan penularan tidak terjadi pada tenaga kesehatan, pasien lain, ataupun pengunjung di fasilitas tersebut. Modul-modul ini terdiri dari media video serta presentasi yang dapat diunduh.
Pelatihan kedua berjudul “ePROTECT Infeksi Pernafasan”. Pelatihan ini merupakan suatu pengantar umum tentang infeksi saluran pernapasan akut dan langkah-langkah umum untuk menjaga kebersihan guna mencegah infeksi.
Kursus-kursus dwibahasa ini telah disesuaikan untuk mendukung tenaga kesehatan dan tenaga profesional kesehatan masyarakat untuk meningkatkan aktivitas mereka dalam menghadapi COVID-19.
Sejak kursus-kursus ini diluncurkan pada awal pekan ini, total lebih dari 3.000 peserta telah mengikuti kedua kursus versi bahasa Indonesia.
Materi pelatihan bebas biaya ini tersedia bagi siapa saja yang tertarik dengan informasi teknis seputar COVID-19, dan semua materi ini tersedia di situs web WHO Indonesia serta situs platform pembelajaran terbuka WHO untuk kedaruratan, OpenWHO.org.
Platform OpenWHO didirikan 3 tahun yang lalu untuk mendukung skenario-skenario darurat kesehatan di mana WHO harus menjangkau jutaan orang di seluruh dunia dengan materi pembelajaran real-time yang mudah diakses.
