The Global Clinical Trials Forum operates as a collaborative, multi-stakeholder network dedicated to strengthening clinical trial capacities worldwide in line with the World Health Assembly resolution WHA75.8. By fostering collaboration among stakeholders such as policy makers, researchers, regulators, funders and patient/community representative organizations, the GCTF drives knowledge sharing, transparent consultation and targeted actions that address national, regional and global challenges in clinical research. Through this unified approach, GCTF aims to enhance the quality, inclusivity and impact of clinical trials, ultimately advancing evidence generation for improved public health outcomes.

Through previous GCTF engagements, a global action plan for clinical trial ecosystem strengthening (GAP-CTS) emerged as the key strategic document to guide the global stakeholder engagement in the implementation of the best practices for clinical trials outlined in the normative guidance and in alignment with WHA75.8. There are nine agreed priority action areas, pertaining to addressing identified barriers in the current clinical trial ecosystem.

The Global Clinical Trials Forum (GCTF) will work collaboratively to implement the nine priority action areas to align global efforts to strengthen clinical trials ecosystem. Through dedicated working groups, GCTF members will combine their efforts to drive meaningful progress in each area, aiming to transform the clinical trial landscape, accelerate the generation of high-quality evidence, and advance health equity worldwide.
