Health security has never been more critical. As the world faces overlapping and complex threats, coordinated, multisectoral responses grounded in a One Health approach are essential. The adoption of the amended International Health Regulations (2005) and the WHO Pandemic Agreement marks a turning point—underscoring the need for stronger regional coordination to reinforce global systems for pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response.
The Asia Pacific Health Security Action Framework (APHSAF) embodies countries’ shared commitment to collective action and multilateral cooperation. It aligns national and regional priorities with the evolving global health security architecture through a multi-hazard, multisectoral approach. Building on the 2024 bi-regional meeting, this year’s Stakeholders Meeting will bring together Member States, WHO, and partners from across the Western Pacific in a key forum to set priorities, sustain momentum, and translate commitments – including the outcomes of the seventy-sixth session of the WHO Regional Committee – into concrete action for regional resilience and operational readiness.
