Health National Adaptation Plan (H-NAP) for building climate resilient health systems in Lao People’s Democratic Republic 2025 - 2030 (ENG)

Overview

The Health National Adaptation Plan (H-NAP) of Lao PDR is a comprehensive framework to build a climate-resilient health system, reducing vulnerability to climate impacts while increasing adaptation capacity in the health sector. It prioritizes climate-sensitive health outcomes, including impacts from extreme weather events, WASH, water- and vector-borne diseases, food insecurity, and heat-related conditions. The H-NAP was developed by the Department of Hygiene and Health Promotion, Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and key stakeholders, with support from the World Health Organization. It aligns with national policies, including the Climate Change Strategy, Health Sector Reform, and the Health Sector Development Plan. The H-NAP provides strategic guidance to health planners and partners, supporting multisectoral collaboration and community empowerment to respond effectively to climate change risks for the health and well-being of the Lao people.
