24-26 July | Kathmandu, Bagmati Province - The Management Division, under the Department of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), and WHO Country Office for Nepal conducted a three-day national training workshop on the Global Platform for Access to Childhood Cancer Medicines (GPACCM). Over 40 participants, including pharmacists; health-care workers and staff from Kanti Children’s Hospital, Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital, BP Koirala Cancer Hospital and Patan Academy of Health Science; representatives from the Management Division and the Department of Drug Administration, under MoHP; and UNICEF developed the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) draft for inventory management, hospital processes and implementation plan to ensure the efficient receipt and distribution of anticancer medicines. The medicines will be available via GPACCM, a joint initiative of the WHO and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. WHO will continue to support the timely finalization of the SOP and implementation plan to ensure that the medicines arrive by the end of December 2024.
