24 February – 31 March – WHO, Country Office for Nepal, supported the Family Welfare Division (FWD), Ministry of Health and Population, to review and strengthen COVID-19 vaccination and routine immunization programs at district and sub-district levels and develop appropriate strategies for its acceleration. With the involvement of municipalities and local health authorities, high-risk areas/population and areas with low immunization coverage were identified, and appropriate municipality and district action plans were developed, which will be reviewed by FWD and provincial health directorates. The meeting also built the capacity of local health officials to improve data recording and reporting, and subsequent analysis and planning. As of 28 March 2023, a total of 57,953,460 doses of COVID-19 vaccines (different types) have been safely administered which includes 9,418,479 booster doses.
