Call for comments on malaria guideline development groups' members

24 June 2025
Call for experts

In 2019, the WHO Global Malaria Programme (GMP) launched an online consultation to identify new topics for malaria policy recommendations and gather input on updating existing ones. As a result, GMP established Guideline Development Groups (GDGs) for key technical areas, including chemoprevention, vector control, elimination, treatment, diagnosis, Plasmodium vivax, and anaemia.

Since the initial publication of the WHO guidelines for malaria in 2021, additional GDGs have been formed as needed to support ongoing updates and ensure the guidance remains current.

The following experts have been selected as members of the Guideline Development Group for developing recommendations for testing P. knowlesi and use of rapid antigen tests for detection of P. malariae and P. ovale. Public comments are invited until 8 July 2025.

Declarations of interests

WHO Secretariat has received and assessed all the DOIs submitted by the participating experts. In accordance with WHO's policy, all declared interests, even if they do not give rise to a conflict of interest that would warrant partial or total exclusion of the expert concerned, will be disclosed within the Guideline Development Group (GDG) at the beginning of the meeting so that other members are aware of them. Many of the GDG members have extensive research and governmental experience and expertise – and consulting with WHO – in the areas that are the subject of the guidelines underdevelopment, which are considered relevant and important for the tasks faced by the GDG.
