Purpose of the Consultancy
To contribute to the roll out and implementation of the food safety strategy, which will be conducted under the team responsible for food and nutrition policies and Multisectoral Actions in Food Systems (AFS) at the Department of Nutrition and Food Safety (NFS).
Background
The WHA resolution “Strengthening efforts on food safety” requested WHO to update the WHO Global Strategy for Food Safety, to address current and emerging challenges, incorporate new technologies and include innovative approaches for strengthening food safety systems. The Department of Nutrition and Food Safety responded to this request by preparing the draft WHO Food Safety Global Strategy 2022-2030, which has been submitted for discussion at EB150 and, eventually, at the World Health Assembly.
Once approved, the strategy will start a roll out phase that considers plans for its dissemination, implementation and monitoring as well as coordination to align the efforts of UN agencies, particularly FAO.
Under the direct supervision of the Unit Head of Multisectoral Actions in Food System, the consultant will contribute to the roll out and implementation of the above-mentioned activities in collaboration with other internal and external stakeholders.
