Call for nominations − WHO Investment for Impact (IFI) Working Group

WHO Investment for Impact (IfI) Working Group of the Strategic and Technical Advisory Group on Neglected Tropical diseases (NTDs)

3 April 2019
Call for experts

The World Health Organization (WHO) solicits proposals for nominations to serve on the various working groups of its Strategic and Technical Advisory Group on the control of NTDs (STAG). STAG is the principal advisory group to WHO for the control of NTDs and reports directly to the Director-General of WHO. The working groups report to STAG on specialized and time-limited issues.

The sixth meeting of the STAG discussed the importance of increasing the capacity of the STAG to advise on issues related to the economics and financing of NTD control. Terms of reference for an Investment for Impact (IfI) Working Group were discussed at a first informal meeting and are available by clicking the below link. The seventh meeting of the STAG endorsed the terms of reference for the IfI Working Group and an outline for the third NTD report, to be titled “Investing to overcome the global impact of neglected tropical diseases”.

In anticipation of the launch of this third NTD report, WHO is now soliciting proposals for nominations to the IfI Working Group.

Nominations for membership are welcome from all regions of the world without strict deadline as this will help build a standing pool of potential nominees. All members must be acknowledged experts with an outstanding record of achievement in their own field. Appointment of members will be made by the Chairperson of STAG on the basis of a proposal from Director, NTD. Working Groups will normally meet once a year, but members may be called upon throughout the year to contribute on an ad hoc basis. The working language of meetings will be English.

Proposals for nomination to the IfI Working Group may be submitted along with a letter of support and curriculum vitae, preferably by e-mail to gabriellia@who.int, cc: aimel@who.int
