Background

The prevention of deafness and hearing loss and promotion of ear and hearing care was highlighted in 2015 and a resolution (WHA70.13) was unanimously adopted by the World Health Assembly in 2017. This resolution called upon WHO to develop a World report on hearing which was launched on 3 March 2021. Following this, the headquarters is working closely with its regional and country offices to disseminate and implement the key recommendations of the report. For this purpose, WHO is working with regional offices to assess the country capacity for ear and hearing care in Member States and. Each year, WHO organizes the World Hearing Day as a means of raising awareness on ear and hearing care and disseminating its materials and messages.

To such actions WHO runs a small grants competition program.  As part of this program, organizations can apply for a grant to cover expenses related to World Hearing Day activities. Through the competitive process a number of events in low- and middle-income countries will be supported with a financial small grant. 

The Department for Noncommunicable Diseases (NCD) is looking for a service provider to support the World Hearing Day small grants competition.

WHO is seeking an organization/provider that can provide the following deliverables: 

  • Prepare and launch a call for applications for the small grants
  • Call for application
  • Review applications and coordinate selection process 
  • Payment of the small grants to the awardees

Required Components of Proposal

The proposal submitted should include:

  • Statement of interest
  • Cost proposal
  • Examples of previous relevant, similar work undertaken (or portfolio)
  • Detailed timeline for the proposed project
