Closing Date / Time for applications: Tue, 31 August 2021, 21h00 (Central European Summer Time)

1. Purpose of the contract

The aim of this contract is to support WHO programmes of work related to WHO Cervical Cancer Elimination Initiative (CCEI) and related to treatment of invasive cervical cancer, as per below:

  • To undertake a comprehensive review of existing major guidelines and systematic reviews for the treatment of early invasive cervical cancer.
  • To develop a scoping document including a summary of the comprehensive review and proposed PICO questions for a formal expert panel review.

2. Background

In response to World Health Assembly Resolutions 70.12 and 73.2, WHO has been mandated to develop normative guidance and technical packages related to the CCEI. Global Strategy to accelerate elimination of cervical cancer as public health problem rests on three pillars of primary, secondary and tertiary prevention. The third pillar, management of invasive cervical cancer has associated target of 90% of women identified with pre-cancer or cervical cancer treated. WHO recently released its guidelines on screening and treatment of pre-invasive cervical cancer lesions. To standardize the treatment of invasive cervical cancer, professional societies and other organizations have published clinical practice guidelines. Their guidelines vary in target audience (national or international) and topic (one type of treatment or all management options). A scoping review of presently available major guidelines for the treatment of invasive cervical cancer will serve as a base to create a framework for the formulation of a globally applicable guideline. This framework will facilitate the planning and implementation of a formal WHO guideline for the treatment of early invasive cervical cancer.
