The World Health Organization (WHO) Department for HIV, Tuberculosis, Hepatitis and Sexually Transmitted Infections has launched a global survey to inform future WHO recommendations on the treatment of gonorrhoea.
Gonorrhoea remains a major global public health concern, and increasing resistance in Neisseria gonorrhoeae is undermining the effectiveness of available treatment options. As new therapeutic options emerge, WHO is seeking to better understand how treatment choices are perceived and implemented across diverse settings.
The survey will generate evidence on values, preferences, acceptability, feasibility, equity and antimicrobial stewardship considerations related to current WHO-recommended regimens and emerging treatment options, including new oral therapies. The findings will contribute to WHO guideline deliberations and support the development of recommendations that are responsive to the needs of communities, health workers and programmes.
How to participate
Information will be collected through 2 short online questionnaires (5-10 minutes) for:
The survey is available in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish, and is open to participants worldwide until 12 June 2026 (23:59 CEST). Participation is voluntary, anonymous, and open to individuals aged 18 years and older. Additional details on eligibility and participation are provided within the survey platform.
This survey is being conducted by WHO under a project funded by the Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Authority of the European Commission, supporting the development of antibiotics to strengthen global preparedness and response to antimicrobial resistance.
