Seeking submissions of reports and investigative journalism articles at the intersection of SRHR and digital misinformation
Why is this review being conducted?
Sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) are integral to human rights and global health. Misinformation in this domain poses significant risks by undermining evidence-based decision-making, eroding accountability, and perpetuating injustices. Although public health programs have thorough experience and expertise in providing credible, accurate health information to clinicians, patients, and the public, these long-standing approaches have been strained in the past two decades by rapidly changing information ecosystems.
This is because how people seek and consume health information has changed with the digitization of information exchange and the ubiquity of consumer-centered and device-mediated information consumption. The consequences of SRHR misinformation in digital spaces include restricted bodily autonomy, compromised reproductive justice, and distorted policy environments.
This scoping review will systematically map the existing literature, focusing on the role of misinformation in digital spaces in SRHR, with particular emphasis on its effects on bodily autonomy, reproductive justice, and human rights.
What kind of submissions are being sought?
We are inviting your submissions of relevant English-language grey literature, which may include news articles, UN agency publications, reports by academic, civil society, health institutions or other non-commercial organizations, that are not published in peer-reviewed journals but would be valuable additions to the scoping review.
What is the deadline?
Please submit all suggested grey literature related SRHR and online misinformation for inclusion by Dec 15.
