How can you help?

We are seeking to update the "Global Standards for Quality Health-Care Services for Adolescents" to align with new evidence and the current health-care landscape. Your unique insights and experience in this field are invaluable to us. Whether you are familiar with the first edition or new to this initiative, your contributions are essential. Help us identify areas for improvement, suggest innovative approaches, and propose new reference materials by participating in our survey.

Who can participate in the consultation?

This survey is designed to seek inputs from the following groups of end users:

  • Adolescents (aged 10-19 years old)
  • Health-care providers providing care to adolescents, exclusively or as part of their practice’ population (e.g. paediatricians, general practitioners, family doctors, family nurses, school nurses and school doctors, community health workers)
  • Health-care administrators, facility managers
  • Policy makers in charge of health care services to adolescents, and school age-children
  • NGOs  operating in the area of adolescent health care
  • Researchers and academis with expertise in the area of adolescent-responsive health care

What are the global standards for quality health-care services for adolescents?

The eight global standards define the required level of quality in the delivery of services for adolescents at the primary care level, each reflecting an important facet of quality services:

1. Adolescents' Health Literacy
2. Community Support
3. Appropriate Package of Services
4. Providers' Competencies
5. Facility Characteristics
6. Equity and Non-discrimination
7. Data and Quality Improvement
8. Adolescents Participation

Your feedback will help us refine these standards to better meet the current and evolving needs of adolescents.

Why was the guidance developed?

The standards were developed to guide health-care providers and facilities in delivering services that meet the specific needs of adolescents. The aim is to improve the overall quality and accessibility of health care for this age group, aligning with global efforts to ensure that all adolescents receive the care they need to thrive.

Why do we need to update it?

The health-care landscape is constantly evolving, and new challenges and opportunities continue to emerge. By updating these standards, we ensure that they stay relevant, reflect the latest research and practices, and address contemporary health issues and system barriers affecting adolescents. Your input will be crucial in ensuring that the updated standards are comprehensive and forward-looking.
