Public consultation for Target Product Profiles for TB screening tests

31 January 2024
Call for consultation
Geneva

To inform research and development priorities for tuberculosis (TB) screening tests and tools, and to enhance TB diagnosis and detection globally, the World Health Organization (WHO) is in the process of updating high-priority target product profiles (TPPs) for TB screening. TPPs provide detailed technical specifications and operational characteristics that are important to end-users, to inform product manufacturers. WHO last published TPPs for TB screening tests in 2014. This update seeks to expand and catalyze the development of tests for screening for TB, to further enable implementation and scale-up of TB screening and to reduce the number of people with TB who go undiagnosed each year.

WHO is seeking feedback on the draft TPPs from experts in the scientific community, national TB programme personnel, clinicians, funders, implementers, patient and community representatives,  industry and product developers and others involved in TB care. Comments made during this public consultation will contribute to the finalization of the TPPs.

Please access the TPP parameters and the survey form here.

Please provide your comments and suggestions by 29 February 2024.
