The seventh WHO international meeting of world pharmacopoeias was held in Tokyo, Japan, from 13 to 15 September 2016. The meeting was co-hosted by WHO and Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare/Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency. A total of 50 national pharmacopoeial authorities were represented in their own capacity or through the European Pharmacopoeia.
The participants agreed on the way forward to finalize additional texts to the Good Pharmacopoeial Practices (GPhP) guidance and discussed actions and proposals for the eighth international meeting of world pharmacopoeias. Participants also agreed that a subgroup of pharmacopoeial representatives should draft a proposal for future meeting topics, and that a survey should be conducted before the next international meeting to evaluate the impact and value of the GPhP guidance.
